A NIGHT OF SURREALISM

  • The LetLove Inn 26-27 23rd Avenue Astoria, NY, 11105 United States (map)

Join us for a voyage through the dreamscape, as The Flushing Remonstrance play their original live accompaniment to two classics of surrealist film.

Jean Cocteau's Le Sang d'un Poete (The Blood of a Poet) creates a haunting and mesmerizing collage of allegory and symbolism, dream imagery, and abstract effects that explore poetry, artistic creation, memory, war, death, and rebirth.

Rene Clair's Entr’acte, heralded as a “cinematic masterpiece,” bridges surrealism and Dada, with groundbreaking camera techniques and layered, kinetic scenes plunging the viewer into the film, which includes appearances by Marcel Duchamp, Man Ray, and Erik Satie.

Free admission, with donations appreciated. Presented by Cinema Under the Influence.
